The United Divided
Location: USS Seraphina - Main Bridge
Timeline: Mission Day 1 - Early Morning
Suvor was the first to enter the Bridge being sent ahead of the others. He ran diagnostics on the Security consoles and moved to Flight Control. He was by no means an expert, nor would anyone want him near the controls when the ship was in a dangerous situation, but he knew enough to at least make sure everything was checked out and ready to go.
Lilly followed minutes later with the two PADDs requested she wandered over towards the science station to wait.
Dr. Vanth entered with an unfamiliar Caninoid in tow; a junior lieutenant also in a science uniform. The darker, Caninoid went over to the science station and greeted Lilly, "hello, I'm LewPine Vanth. What can I do for you?"
"Oh I have some PADDs to hand over and science is my favorite station up here."
LewPine accepted the PADDs, "what are they?" S/he asked before s/he looked them over. (OOC: Since P.J. has no idea what's on them.) S/he stood and bowed hir head, greeting Lieutenant Morgan.
"Readiness reports and the list of up coming annual medicals for a few of the crew." Lilly replied
Meanwhile Dr. Vanth went over to Mr. Suvor. "Reporting in. Is the XO or CO about?"
'"No," Suvor replied. "but I am the Second Officer, so I guess I'm in charge for the moment."
"Understood, I've left my assistant in charge of the science station up here, if you won't be needing me, I'll be in sickbay." Doctor Vanth stood by Suvor and waited for acknowledgement.
The lift opened yet again, this time depositing a red-headed woman onto the bridge. The strange woman wore a long dress that was command red in color...and Commodore pips on the collar. "Excuse me. I am looking for Commodore D'Tal." Her voice was soft, with an almost musical lilt to it.
Jerant followed the redhead out of the turbolift. He knew Savin had gone with D'Tal but he didn't know where exactly. "Any word from the captain or Savin?" he asked, no-one in-particular.
Dr. Vanth spoke up. "They haven't returned from the surface."
"Oh...I hadn't realized they were...no matter." Rosaleen walked over to where Vanth stood and held out her hand. "Rosaleen O'Donnell. It appears that I will be taking over Combat Ops for a bit."
Doctor Vanth looked at the offered hand, "oh, that's right..." Hir paw-hand enveloped the commodore's gently and s/he shook it. "Pleasure to meet you sir. Sorry for the confusion, but Lieutenant Suvor is in command, I was just headed to sickbay.
"No apologies necessary, Doctor. I'm the odd fish out here." She was silent for a moment, making a rapid sequence of decisions. "Once we are under way, I need to have a talk with you."
"Oh?" Farkas Vanth asked, confusion laced in hir voice. ~No one ever seems to want to talk to the science officers except for other science officers, or when someone in command needs something.~ S/he thought to hirself.
As Rosaleen, and Vanth were talking, one of the junior officers on the bridge that had just been transferred to the ship noticed Rosaleen, and the pips she wore. "Commodore on deck!" He shouted, and several others on the bridge stood at attention.
Each Vanth winced at the sudden loud noise and pinned their sensitive ears. One of them yelped. "Is that really necessary?" Farkas asked.
"It is Starfleet protocol to announce the presence of those with the rank of Captain, or higher." The simple voice was that of Kalar Voc, as he moved to the Engineering station. "The young Ensign was merely doing his duty."
Doctor Vanth excused hirself from the bridge, since no one had objected.
Rosaleen actually looked a bit embarrassed. "Please...I'm just another member of the crew here. I don't really go for all of the formal stuff."
Jerant studied the woman. "Well, you are the highest ranking right now ma'am," he offered, while looking over at Suvor. "Unless you want Suvor to remain in command?"
Suvor looked over at the Commodore, "I'll gladly let you have the con." he said to her.
Rosaleen turned with a smile and shook her head. "Oh, no...that's quite alright. You know this ship and it's crew. I'm more of a spectator than anything else at this point. Oh, yes...Commander Rybeena will not be on this tour. He has been recalled to Utopia for some project that they need him for ASAP. I'll be running Combat in his absence."
Suvor, who had been half rising out of the chair sat back down. "Very well, get ready to engage the cloaking device and get underway."
As the crew prepared for departure, as ordered by the new CO, the COMMs came to life.
=A= "Commodore D'Tal to Seraphina. Two to beam up from my current location." =A=
^=^ Seraphina here, Commodore, ^=^ Jan replied, ^=^two to beam up.^=^
"Two?" Jerant asked in surprise. "Who's with him then?"
"Perhaps the Executive Officer?" Kalar offered simply.
A few minutes later, the lift opened to deposit Darok, and Savin onto the bridge. As they exited the lift, it didn't go unnoticed by those on the bridge that the new CO was sporting a sword on his hip.
"Report." Darok ordered.
Savin followed in silence, his expression utterly blank but his eyes the picture of emotion in stark contrast to his expression. He still carried the phaser in his hand, almost as if he was unaware of still holding the weapon. He glanced around the bridge just once, before crossing down straight to his chair.
"Engineering reports all green." Kalar Voc said from his station. "The warp core is at your disposal, Commodore."
Darok didn't even bother going to the center seat, and hence, hadn't even noticed that Suvor was sitting there. "Helm, disengage from the base, and get us under way." He said.
"Clearing all moorings, and disengaging umbilicals." Crewman James Ward said from the helm, his fingers quickly tapping on his console as the ship slowly began to pull back from it place in the space dock.
"Sir, I've gone over the sensor logs from the last 30 minutes." The officer at the OPS station spoke up. "According to this, there was a Sovereign class ship cloaked, and waiting. When things started to happen, they beamed a lot of people off the base, then vanished."
Darok raised an eyebrow. "Did you say it was a Sovereign class?"
"Yes sir." The man replied. "It was the U.S.S. Visage"
Darok turned to look at Savin. "This could be more complicated than we thought."
Savin merely nodded, even though he didn't fully understand the complication.
Darok turned to Jan, but without having read the crew manifest before coming aboard, didn't know the Andorian's name. "Lieutenant, contact starbase, and tell them to launch fighters in a sweeping radius to look for anything that might suggest the trail of a cloaked Starfleet vessel." He ordered. "If they ask why, tell them we may have identified the ship responsible for abducting Captain Williams."
"Aye sir," Jan replied, as he relayed the orders.
With a moment of time to wait as things began to happen, Darok finally turned to Rosaleen. "Welcome aboard, Commodore."
Rosaleen moved a couple of steps to stand in front of Darok. "Thank you, Sir. Commander Rybeena has been recalled to Utopia for a special project. I guess I am taking his place in combat for now."
"I guess we will just have to do without Telair." Darok replied. "In the meantime, please take your sta-" Darok was cut off as Jan spoke up.
"Sir," the Andorian communications officer spoke up, "we have an incoming message."
"Put it on screen." Darok turned to face the viewer. as Jan opened the channel. He was a bit surprised to see Arianna looking back at him.
"Did I forget something, Admiral?" He asked his daughter with a raised eyebrow.
"Actually, you did." Arianna replied. "I'm sending a new Operations officer as a last minute addition to your crew."
"I see." Darok said, glancing at the officer sitting at OPS already. "I hope they're ready to beam over, because we're already heading out of the dock doors."
"She's ready, and standing in Transporter room 12, waiting for your order." Arianna replied simply. "Good hunting, Commodore. Starbase out." and with that, the image of Arianna vanished to show the view of space beyond the dock doors.
Darok tapped the OPS officer on the shoulder. "If you would, please beam our new Operations officer directly to the Bridge."
"Aye sir." came the reply. "Transporting now."
Tara was tired. It had been a long trip on a cramped civilian transport, and she was ready to kick back with a cup of tea and a nice book to relax. 'And a cheeseburger!' Arjin chimed in at the back of her mind as she stepped up onto the transporter pad, her faithful companion Sage at her side. Yes, even a cheeseburger sounded good right about now... What she didn't expect as she was enveloped in the transporter matter stream was that not only was she being beamed straight to the bridge, but that there was an emergency situation and she was about to be forced right into the middle of it!
As the blue light faded and her surroundings became visible, Tara stood gawking at the bridge crew. What the... She certainly hadn't been told this was where she would end up. "Permission to come aboard?" she asked in an uneasy tone as she spotted Darok. He seemed to be the ranking officer, so it seemed a reasonable thing to say. Though why she had been beamed aboard the bridge in her civilian clothing, with her dog no less, was completely beyond her.
Darok raised an eyebrow as he laid eyes on his new Operations officer... and her dog. "Permission granted." Darok said, and he did a most un-Vulcan thing by offering a hand shake. "I would ask you to take your station, but obviously you have other things to attend to."
Tara took his hand awkwardly. She wasn't overly fond of this human social ritual, but if your Commanding Officer offers you a hand shake, you take it! "My transfer orders stipulate that I was to begin duty tomorrow, but I am not opposed to starting now if the situation calls for it," Tara offered. "I would, of course, require a moment to unpack my duty uniform."
"It would be preferable, considering the current situation." Darok explained as she shook his hand. Her handshake was awkward, but firm. "I was not told of any stipulations before you were beamed here. I was only told that you are a last minute addition to the crew."
"I requested some leave time when I asked for a transfer from Deep Space 10," Tara said evenly. "I am supposed to be relaxing on Risa, but then I was suddenly given my new orders and rushed here. I hope this emergency was worth the disruption of my meditation retreat." Starfleet Medical had been after her for some time trying to get her to take some time off after the traumatic nature of her joining to her symbiont, but she had been dodging it for far too long. Now she finally takes some time for herself and Starfleet comes to take her back. Just figures...
"I hope so too." Darok replied, as he let go of her hand. "I'm sure we'll find some time for you to relax as soon as this situation is handled. In the mean time, welcome aboard."
"Thank you, sir," Tara replied. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go find my quarters so I can get into my uniform."
"You're dismissed." Darok said, then turned to the view screen just in time to see several fighters beginning to pan out around the area, and wondering to himself why a Starfleet vessel would be involved in the kidnapping of another officer. "Start a full sensor sweep of the area. Let's help the fighters in their search."
Tara nodded and headed for the lift, her great white mastiff at her heels as she walked away. The Officer at the Ops station began the sensor sweep until Tara could return to take his place.
As the ship slowly emerged from inside the massive Stardock class base, it was easy to see the chaos in the area. Countless ships were already scrambling to provide assistance to the starbase, and surrounding ships. Another few moments, and they were completely clear.
Not quite sure what to do right now, Savin hurried after the retreating newcomer. "Would you like an escort to your quarters ma'am?" he asked as he approached, though giving the canine a wide berth. "This vessel can be quite the labyrinth to newcomers."
"I have served on a Galaxy-class before, I know my way around," Tara said, a statement which was not altogether true; Tara herself had never stepped foot on Galaxy-class before, but her former host Arjin had been the one to serve on the USS Challenger. "But I would appreciate the company."
Suvor looked up from the Tactical Console, he was a bit surprised to see a dog on the bridge, but there were far more important things to worry about now."
